Six major industries in the southern districts plan to establish high-capacity solar power generation plants under a scheme of the Central Government, according to S.E.S.Syed Ahamed, Deputy General Manager, Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency (TEDA), Madurai region.

The Kundalika, Amba and Vashishti rivers near Mumbai are polluted with a high content of organochlorines and other persistent organic pollutants, as per the pre-monsoon tests undertaken by the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) on the rivers. The contamination is a result of industries letting out their untreated water into the rivers.

According to the Solarbuzz® Asia and Pacific Major PV Markets 2010 report, the key emerging country markets of China, India, South Korea and Australia, together with the long established Japanese market, contributed 0.9 GW of installations in 2009, or 12% of world demand. After a policy-led reduction in demand in South Korea last year, all five of these country markets are now expected to return to growth in 2010.
